Hearts and Hands and the Listing of Victims’ Names

To All,

Below is an article from Friday’s Downtown Express about how the names will be listed at the WTC Memorial. Please take a moment to read.

As you know we have been working on the Hearts and Hands Memorial for over 6 years.

In the Hearts and Hands Memorial we will have a Corridor of Memories.

The corridor will contain 8×10 photos of all the victims of 9/11

These photos will be arranged in alphabetical order within affiliation

Under each photo will be the victim’s name (as requested by the victim’s family)

If they want a rank or other designation or even a nickname it will be included.

We will also include the age of the victim as well as the location of the victim on 9/11.

We have been taking feedback from the families as we want this memorial to be a personal as possible.

We feel that the Corridor of Memories along with an exhibition hall in which the United in Memory 9/11 Victims Memorial Quilt will be permanently displayed and a 21,000 square foot Memorial Garden will achieve this goal.

This along with the fact that visitors will be able to record or listen to messages as well as the fact that visitors will have access to an interdenominational chapel should give family members everything they have been asking for.

We currently have the support of most of the 9/11 Family Groups, the Uniformed Unions as well as most of our local elected officials.

We will be meeting with the WTC Memorial Foundation this week to once again present our plan to them.

We hope this time they will listen.

If you have not sent in an 8×10 photo please do so.

Photos should be sent to
