THE REASON IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE DECISION

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

To All,

As you probably have read the city has changed their position and are now denying the President of Iran access to the Ground Zero Site.

While we will never know the true story of what actually took place with various agencies pointing fingers and sighting miscommunications the bottom line is that access has been denied.

While this is the outcome that we had wanted we have a real problem with the reason given for the denial.

Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman stated that they had attended a meeting with the NYPD and it was determined that “no dignitaries would be allowed inside the site due to ongoing construction”

Are they serious?

They are not going to let him visit the site because he might get hurt.

Give us a break.

How about stating some real reasons.

You can’t visit the site because;

Your country continues to support and finance terrorism.

Your country continues to supply weapons and ammunition that continue to kill American servicemen and women.

Your country continues to act as a safe haven for Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

Your country is one of the main reasons why we have a Ground Zero and why September 11th is now the darkest day in America’s history.

We don’t need or want you to lay a wreath at Ground Zero as you are one of the reasons that nearly 3,000 people do the same each year to honor those took from them on 9/11.

We don’t need or want you anywhere near Ground Zero out of respect for those who died and continue to die as a result of your ongoing support of terrorism.

This has nothing to with safety at the site and until we stand up to Ahmadinejad and others like him they will continue to mock us with these types of publicity stunts while Americans continue to die.

No we do not need or want Mr… Ahmadinejad at Ground Zero, in New York, or in the United States.

If the Port Authority, the Mayor or the NYPD don’t want to pass on this message have them tell him to give us a call we will tell him where we would like him to go.

City Rejects Iranian President’s Bid To Visit WTC Site

http://www.ny1news.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?stid=1&aid=73789

PRESIDENT OF IRAN MIGHT VISIT GROUND ZERO

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

To All,It has been brought to our attention that the Mayor’s office is considering granting the President of Iran permission to visit Ground Zero.

One would think that this was a joke with all of Iran’s ties to terrorism and the funding of terrorist attacks.

But it was confirmed at a press conference with Ray Kelly this morning.

The fact that the Mayor would even consider to allow this visit is unthinkable.

Considering the families had to fight to visit the site on 9/11 makes this even more ridiculous.

September 19, at 10 AM, hearing re: Deutsche Bank Building fire

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

My name is Kunal Malhotra and I am the new Legislative and Budget Director
for New York City Council Member Gale Brewer of District 6, Upper West Side
Manhattan. Recently Bruce Lai, Council Member Brewer’s former Chief of
Staff, moved to the Depatment of Education in the Office of the Chief
Information Officer. I now serve in the capacity as Gale Brewer’s
Technology Policy contact dedicated to bridging this great city’s digital
divide and progress towards to true digital equality. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions or concerns regarding legislative, budgetary
or technology issues pertaining to CM Brewer or the City.

I am writing to let you know that there will be a joint oversight hearing by
the Committees on Technology in Government and the Lower Manhattan
Redevelopment on Wednesday, September 19, at 10 AM, in response to the
August 19th Deutsche Bank Building fire at City Hall. The hearing will
address community notification of catastrophic incidents as well as review
the lessons learned from the Deutsch Bank fire and other recent incidents in
relation to Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC). The hearing
will open with the City’s current CERC policy on preparedness, response,
message, information management, etc. Other topics to be discussed include
how the City actually transmits their messages to the citizenry through
alarms, email, text messaging, reverse 911, and other methods. The hearing
will also review how the City crafts its message for different
constituencies, i.e. affected individuals vs. the city at large. Finally,
the hearing will discuss new approaches in community notification available
in technology, policy, and the current status of how established lines of
communication, namely 311 and 911, are reaching the citizenry.

Sincerely,

Kunal Malhotra
