ANOTHER RESPONSE
Dear Governor Spitzer and Mayor Bloomberg:
As a concerned American citizen, former resident of New York, and proud friend of a fallen 9/11 firefighter, I am appalled at the consideration of relocating the annual memorial service to any location, other than where the disaster occurred.
I understand that you are considering the safety of the families in your decision, basing it on construction. That construction, however, is all a direct result of the tragedy these families are commemorating! Just as America came to a grinding halt on that day, so should any construction. To move the ceremony to another location makes it appear as if this national tragedy was but a trite occurrence—an its remembrance a mere inconvenience in the face of progress. This is a complete dishonor to those who gave their lives, and to the families who live on.
I trust that this decision will be overturned out of respect for those who have lost so much.
Sincerely,
Terri, Anthony, and AJ Schryer
